Maintenance Engineer – Electrical Bias
About the role
Are you a skilled electro-mechanical engineer with a passion for solving complex problems and delivering exceptional service? Our client is looking for Engineers to join their experienced service team, working with a wide range of clients to inspect, maintain, and repair heavy industry equipment.
Role Overview
As an Engineer working in in the field, you’ll provide an expert service and safety advice to help their customers stay compliant and productive. You’ll travel to customer sites, diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and ensure lifting systems are operating safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities & Daily Tasks
1. Inspect, service, and repair heavy industry equipment
2. Travel to customer sites in a company vehicle to conduct planned maintenance and respond to breakdowns.
3. Diagnose and resolve electrical faults - often without detailed drawings -and carry out repairs or component replacements.
4. Work with motors, drives, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, and control panels.
5. Perform basic welding and fabrication tasks (desirable).
6. Troubleshoot engineering issues to minimise customer downtime.
7. Inspect lifting equipment for safety and compliance.
8. Liaise with customers to explain work carried out and recommend improvements.
9. Maintain accurate service records and update compliance documentation.
10. Provide clear, professional reports and deliver outstanding customer service with a safety-first approach.
Skills, Experience & Person Specification
11. Proven experience in a multi-skilled engineering role with an electrical bias.
12. Previous experience of working on heavy industry machinery.
13. Strong electrical fault-finding skills.
14. Experience with three-phase systems
15. Welding/fabrication experience (desirable).
16. Comfortable working at height and in confined environments.
17. Valid UK Driving Licence (essential).
18. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
19. Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
20. Organised, safety-conscious, and committed to continuous improvement.
21. Professional, proactive, and adaptable.
What You’ll Get in Return
22. Starting salary between £40,000 – £45,000, depending on experience
23. Earning potential of £50,000 – £60,000+ through overtime and out-of-hours work
