Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurse (dual site) – Icon Cancer Centre Ipswich and Springfield

1. Part-Time 0.4 FTE Ipswich
2. Part-Time 0.2 FTE Springfield
This is more than just a clinical role—it’s a chance to become a trusted advocate and care coordinator for men navigating prostate cancer. You’ll be part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team delivering exceptional, personalised supportive care in the West Moreton region.

As a Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurse, you’ll work in partnership across all areas of healthcare—including non-government organisations—to ensure continuity, quality, and compassion in every aspect of care. Your interventions will be tailored to each patient’s unique needs, with a focus on evidence-based, seamless support.
This self-directed role thrives on interdisciplinary collaboration across primary, secondary, and tertiary health services. You’ll help shape and implement innovative care models and may also represent Icon at forums and meetings locally and interstate.

Key Responsibilities
7. Deliver advanced, patient-centred care and support for men with prostate cancer, including initial assessments, needs triage, care coordination, follow-ups, and identifying clinical trial opportunities.
8. Act as a clinical resource, mentor, and technical expert in prostate cancer care, including leading education programs.
9. Drive innovation and service development across cancer care, surgery, and perioperative services.
10. Participate in clinical research and contribute to data collection relevant to prostate cancer care.
Skills and Experience
Required:
11. Current AHPRA registration
12. Advanced clinical skills in cancer or urological nursing
13. Strong communication and interpersonal skills in a multidisciplinary setting
14. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
15. Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities
16. Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
17. Commitment to quality improvement and best practice
Desired:
18. Postgraduate qualification (completed or in progress)
19. Minimum 5 years post-registration experience
20. Significant experience in prostate cancer, urology, or oncology nursing
21. Experience in pelvic floor education and penile rehabilitation
22. Experience in patient education
23. Competence in relevant clinical IT systems
