Radiology Department Assistant

Closing date: 24 November 2025

The post is based at Trafford Hospital with rotation to Altrincham General Hospital and the CT and MR unit at Withington Hospital. Radiology Department Assistants are fundamental to the smooth running of the department, supporting clinical activities in all modalities including CT, MR, ultrasound and fluoroscopy. This role offers the opportunity to work in a state‑of‑the‑art environment alongside a friendly and dedicated team.

Main duties of the job

The role suits someone who enjoys moving around a friendly department and is flexible. The access to all areas keeps the job interesting and the successful candidate will face different challenges across modalities.

Previous experience in a healthcare environment is desirable. You will assist in the care of patients during their visit and support clinical staff during procedures. Duties include preparing for and assisting with procedures such as biopsies, aspirations, and injections, and supporting other departmental activities.

You must be able to work in a team environment, manage pressure, communicate effectively with clinical and non‑clinical staff, and have good telephone skills to take accurate messages.

In return, we provide a comprehensive induction programme and annual appraisal to develop knowledge and skills, including intravenous cannulation.

Please contact the department to organise a visit to gain a better understanding of the role.
