Overview
The Urgent Treatment Centre at St Peters Emergency Department is passionate about getting it right for patients and their families. We are recruiting Band 7 Emergency Practitioners and Band 6 Junior Emergency Practitioners to complement our existing team. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who have a proven urgent and emergency care background and can provide a complete package of excellent care whilst working under pressure. As a clinician within the Urgent Treatment Centre, you will work as an independent, autonomous practitioner providing consistent high quality, evidence based, timely, patient centred care.
Responsibilities include utilising expert diagnostic and clinical skills to provide autonomous, unscheduled medical care and management of a diverse range of patients with acute undifferentiated and undiagnosed illnesses and injuries. You should be able to use your initiative, work proactively, demonstrate excellent clinical and communication skills, be part of the team while prioritising your own workload and responding flexibly to changing demands.
The primary focus is to work as an independent practitioner providing consistently high-quality and timely patient-centred care.
Clinical Duties
* Independently undertake clinical assessments, diagnose, treat, advise and discharge patients with a wide range of minor injuries and/or illnesses.
* Order, undertake and interpret diagnostic tests including X-rays.
* Order radiological imaging and make referrals to other health care professionals.
* Prescribe medicines (if qualified) or use PGDs and perform treatments.
* Provide a clear focus for clinical leadership and ensure the provision of a high standard of holistic, patient-centred care.
* Be accountable for the management of resources and the performance of staff.
* Implement Audit, Quality and Risk Management initiatives.
* Promote and maintain contacts with internal and external MDT members through Link Roles.
* Promote and participate in the implementation of the ASPH Nursing & Midwifery Strategy and Core Standards and contribute towards achieving the Trust's Objectives and maintaining the Trust's Values.
* Provide education and mentorship for staff development aimed at delivering evidence-based practice.

Education/Research
* Participate in teaching, mentorship and assessing for ENP/ECP, pre and post-registration and paramedic students, junior doctors and GP trainees.
* Enable staff development by promoting and facilitating learning from practice.
* Participate in training for all MDT members and stay up to date with current practice and clinical developments.
* Ensure mandatory training is up to date and engage in research and audit within the department.
* Participate in peer group, medical and other health professional teaching.
Professional Duties
* Adhere to HCPC and NMC Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics (SCPE).
* Be proactive in maintaining standards in the UTC and represent the department within the hospital and externally as requested.
* Attend court hearings as required for the purpose of giving evidence and demonstrate effective use of information technology in clinical practice.
* Ensure patient safety, report incidents, maintain confidentiality, privacy and dignity of patients, and comply with organisational policies (Equal Opportunities, No Smoking, No Alcohol, Violence and Aggression, Infection Control, Major Incident).
* Maintain staff appraisal and recognise diverse beliefs and choices, valuing people as individuals.
* Understand business continuity processes and promote best infection control practices.
* Engage in appraisal of self and others.
General Responsibilities
* Support the department and organisation by carrying out other duties that reasonably fit within the scope of the role.
