We are looking for a detail-oriented SQL Developer with strong experience in database development, production support, and cloud-based data environments. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, optimising, and supporting enterprise-scale databases while collaborating with cross-functional teams in Agile environments. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in data-driven applications, cloud platforms, and DevOps practices, particularly within regulated industries such as insurance or telecom. Key Responsibilities Database Development & Optimisation Design and maintain relational database structures, schemas, and data models Develop high-performance SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions Optimise queries using indexing, execution plans, and performance tuning techniques Ensure data integrity through constraints, triggers, and validation rules Data Management & ETL Develop and maintain ETL processes for data extraction, transformation, and loading Work with structured and semi-structured data (CSV, XML, etc.) Support data warehousing and reporting requirements Production Support & Incident Management Provide L2/L3 support for database-related incidents in live environments Troubleshoot data issues, analyse logs, and perform root cause analysis Manage incidents and service requests using ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, JIRA) Participate in on-call or out-of-hours support rota (if required) Cloud & DevOps Integration Support cloud-based database solutions on platforms such as Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins Use version control systems like Git for managing database scripts Assist in infrastructure automation using Terraform or Ansible Collaboration & Agile Delivery Work closely with developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to gather requirements Contribute to Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) Produce technical documentation and support knowledge sharing Required Skillset Strong experience with SQL and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, DB2) Proven ability in query optimisation and performance tuning Experience in stored procedures, functions, and database design Solid understanding of data modelling and data integrity principles Experience in L2/L3 application or database support Strong troubleshooting and incident resolution skills Experience with AWS (RDS, S3, EC2) and/or Azure Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices Exposure to containerisation tools (Docker, Kubernetes) is advantageous Knowledge of Python, Java, or Shell scripting Experience with Linux/Unix (preferably RedHat) Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, ServiceNow, Power BI Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field Relevant certifications (AWS, Azure, ITIL) are advantageous Should have 4-6years experience in required skillset What We Offer Opportunity to work with real-world data and business problems Learning and growth opportunities in analytics and data tools Collaborative and supportive work environment Competitive compensation based on experience Travel - Occasionally within UK
