We’re seeking a talented Diagnostics Technician to join our fast-paced engineering team in Great Yarmouth. In this exciting role you’ll support the diagnosis, analysis, and continuous improvement of RF transmit and receive modules and complex electronic assemblies. This role is focused on component-level fault finding, root cause analysis, and driving improvements in product quality, yield, and test efficiency. Working closely with Engineering and Operations, the post holder will apply structured problem-solving and Lean principles to identify failures, implement sustainable solutions, and enhance manufacturing and diagnostic processes. Key responsibilities will include Diagnose and fault-find RF transmit/receive modules and complex electronic assemblies down to component level Perform detailed RF analysis using test equipment (e.g. spectrum analysers, network analysers, power meters) Support implementation of test setups and verification plans defined by Test System Development Engineering Apply structured problem-solving techniques (e.g. 5 Whys, Fishbone, 8D) to identify root cause of failures Own and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to closure, ensuring sustainable fixes Analyse failure trends and provide data-driven insights to improve first-time yield and reliability Proactively identify and implement Lean improvements to diagnostic processes, test methods, and workflows Actively contribute to and lead some continuous improvement initiatives, reducing waste, rework, and inefficiencies Review and update test procedures, work instructions, and documentation to embed improvements Support and enhance the customer returns and failure analysis process Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to provide feedback on design, process, and test improvements Champion continuous improvement initiatives across diagnostics and production Ensure full compliance with EHS and company policies Skills and experience required: Essential: HNC/HND in Electronic Engineering (or equivalent experience) Strong experience in electronics diagnostics and fault finding Proven ability to diagnose PCB-level faults to component level Desirable: Degree (BEng or equivalent) in Electronic Engineering Experience with RF tune & test Knowledge of transmit/receive modules (TRMs), radar systems, or RF subsystems Experience with chip & wire hybrid assemblies Familiarity with LabVIEW-based test systems Experience using modern RF test equipment (e.g. Keysight, Rohde & Schwarz) RF Test Measurement and Calibration Good understanding of spectrum analysers, network analysers (VNA), power meters and frequency converters is advantageous.
