Job overview

Applications are invited for enthusiastic and dynamic Consultant Dermatologists to join our well-established and expanding department. This is a replacement post for a General Dermatologist and is ideally suited for someone with or wishing to develop a specialist interest in, paediatric allergy and immunology and support the outreach service based at Stoke Mandeville hospital and work across the 2 main sites ( Amersham and Stoke Mandeville Hospital. It is anticipated that this post will be for 5 programmed activities per week.

Main duties of the job

* Provide effective and compassionate care for our Dermatology patients. Whilst there are not currently any inpatient beds, the successful applicant will work closely with medical colleagues to provide inpatient support and outpatient services across the Trust site.
* Develop their own area of specialist interest and provide sub-specialty expertise
* Develop and expand the current Dermatology service locally and regionally
* Work with the Clinical Director and General Manager to review current working practices and drive forward innovative changes to develop new models of care.
* Provide expert advice and support regarding complex cases to clinical colleagues in primary and secondary care.
* Get involved in clinical research, teaching and development
* clinical supervision of Junior members of the team and nursing team
* vetting of referrals

Person specification


Education, Qualifications & Training

* MBBS or equivalent GMC registerable qualifications and MRCP all parts
* Higher degree PhD or MD or equivalent


Experience

* General training in Dermatology specialist level or equivalent
* Subspecialist Skills
* Ability to make decisions at Consultant level
* Skin cancer complex surgical skills


Clinical and Technical skills

* Knowledge of the organisation of the NHS and the Government’s agenda for its modernisation.
* Full GMC Registration
* Full Driving Licence and regular access to a car

PPE requirements:Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust requires all colleagues to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with our infection prevention and control procedures.

The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable people and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
