WORKING HOURS: 21 hours per week
WORKING WEEKS: 52 weeks with 28 days paid holiday per annum (including bank holidays)
USUAL HOURS OF WORK: 6.30am to 7.42am and the 3pm to 6pm Monday to Friday
The 3 hours in the afternoon shift will mostly be dedicated to the cleaning of the school.
PAY:
Start Date: ASAP. Training will take after the hiring process done, including learning the locking up process of the school. During the school holidays there will be a planned maintenance programme which will include deep cleaning areas of the school,
1 PURPOSE OF YOUR JOB
Working with school management teams and cleaning contracts managers and teams.
To provide a clean and safe environment for users of the school buildings, equipment and grounds. To carry out repairs and maintenance tasks (R&M) as possible and DIY duties in order to ensure the buildings/grounds provide a safe learning and working environment for pupils and staff.
Responsibilities would include:
· A range of cleaning and caretaking duties working in conjunction with on site cleaning and management teams.
* Ensure high standards of cleanliness and operational effectiveness
* Manage the site, grounds and buildings to a high standard
* Maintain and operate school building plant and fittings
* Take responsibility for site security and keys
* Undertake and record a number of health and safety based checks and inspections
* Undertake a variety of repairs and maintenance
* Organise external companies for repair work if needed
* Communicate with any visitors through appropriate channels
* Ensure that the site is safe and accessible to all users
Preferable Knowledge and Experience
· The person should be able to work independently and be self-motivated but also able to work as part of a team, have good communication skills and have a commitment to high standards.
· The work will involve; moving and carrying furniture and other equipment e.g. desks, tables chairs, DIY equipment such as ladders, carrying some deliveries to the school to wherever they are to be stored. Organising the disposal of old or defective resources and/or rubbish – loading and removal as necessary. Emptying rubbish and recycling bins.
· Experience of working in school or similar environment preferable
· Flexibility and sensitivity to the needs of a wide range of users of the school
· Knowledge of efficient cleaning methods and material is desirable
· Ability to prioritise and manage a workload efficiently and independently
· Evidence of success in completing handyperson or DIY tasks (paid or unpaid)
The Person
Some items on site are controlled by a Business Management System which requires basic IT skills.
Applicants will be subject to pre-employment checks and should hold or be willing to undertake a DBS check.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Some of the work will need to be done out of doors such as repairs, and security checks in wet or cold weather, snow clearance and grounds work.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Holidays will be expected to be taken during school holiday times by arrangement with the School and Cleaning Contractor.
