About the Role
A Design Engineer based in Raynesway (Derby) supporting major projects and bioresources waste treatment design team. Shape wastewater strategies from feasibility to detailed design, protecting and enhancing waste treatment assets and rivers.
Key Responsibilities
* Sewage treatment assets – understanding existing assets, completing risk assessments, undertaking outline designs for new assets to meet new business needs.
* Support the Price Review regulatory submissions; collaborate across the business in building river quality, sustainability and net‑zero carbon plans.
* Carry out self‑led research on emerging technologies, define new innovative treatment options and promote new strategies internally and externally.
* Promote the waste treatment capital maintenance programme; ensure robust evidence‑based understanding of site performance to maintain final effluent quality.
* Support and advise operational teams to maintain availability and quality of waste treatment services for customers.
* Ensure Health & Safety built into the design life‑cycle.
* Identify and support review of potential delivery and operational risks (e.g., H&S, environmental, commissioning) through design.
What You’ll Bring
You’ll be a degree‑qualified engineer, preferably in an engineering discipline, and actively working towards incorporated or chartered status (desired). You must have excellent internal and external stakeholder management skills, be able to build relationships with diverse stakeholders, be forward‑thinking, anticipate challenges, respond to change in a rapidly evolving environment, and hold a full UK driving licence.
