About the role
Commissioning Engineer - Balfour Beatty Alliance
Location: Peterborough/Hybrid
Alliance is a groundbreaking collaboration between Anglian Water and seven industry-leading partners: Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska, and SWECO. Together, we deliver over half of Anglian Water's capital investment programme.
With AMP8 ahead, we're preparing for our biggest challenge yet—delivering an ambitious programme of projects that will shape the future of water infrastructure.
We are seeking a driven and experienced Commissioning Engineer to join us in our quest for engineering excellence.
What you'll be doing
1. Draft and actively participate in creating a Commissioning Plan for each capital project. Review and update the plan as necessary during project implementation.
2. Seek Operations approval for the commissioning plan, including specific hand-over testing requirements.
3. Ensure the Commissioning Plan aligns with the Alliance SPEP and/or Special Projects scope of works; clearly outline scheme deliverables and hand-over testing procedures.
4. Manage and supervise the implementation of the commissioning plan in accordance with H&S procedures, CDM procedures, and all relevant AWS operational procedures including POSWSH, POSWASTE, HACCP, and POSTEL.
5. Collaborate closely with M&E and process engineers during the initial design stage to ensure scheme deliverables are achievable.
6. Maintain close liaison with Operations to provide feedback to designers on operability and maintainability.
Who we're looking for
* Degree or appropriate higher technical qualification plus proven ability.
* Extensive site experience, preferably in water/wastewater commissioning.
* Knowledge of water and wastewater operations.
* Extensive experience in mechanical and/or electrical engineering disciplines.
* Detailed technical knowledge.
* Proven ability to liaise with Contractors on site.
