Background
We are seeking to appoint one outstanding Lecturer in Psychology to join our thriving, research intensive department, conducting world class research across many areas of psychology, including (but not limited to) typical and atypical development across the lifespan, mental health and wellbeing, organisational psychology, cognition (especially memory and decision making), family psychology and clinical, social and cognitive neuroscience. Investment in recruiting researchers with established, recognised expertise over recent years has allowed the Department to expand substantially, fostering a dynamic environment for research and learning.
Responsibilities
The post holder will primarily contribute to teaching on our postgraduate programme, MSc in Psychology of Health and Well-Being, as well as potentially teaching on our undergraduate Psychology programmes. Responsibilities will include module leadership, acting as a personal tutor, supervising dissertations, designing and marking coursework assessments, contributing to departmental administrative duties, and engaging in team, departmental, and student events and meetings. Those appointed to an Education & Research contract will furthermore be expected to contribute to research activities in line with the University's Research Strategy, including dissemination and income generation.
Person Specification
The candidate should be able to deliver engaging and high-quality teaching in areas of Psychology that is tailored to diverse student needs and informed by research, innovative pedagogy and scholarship as demonstrated through engagement with the UK Professional Standards Framework for Teaching and supporting learning in Higher Education. Candidates must have an honours degree in a related discipline and PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant field. Candidates applying on the Education and Research track must also have a strong publication track record and demonstrated experience in securing research funding.
