The role will report to the Head of Group Tax and will work in close partnership with members of the Group’s finance and legal teams on a variety of matters and will take responsibility for global tax compliance, including corporate taxes, indirect taxes, transfer pricing compliance and internal & external reporting matters across the Group. SCOPE OF THE ROLE Work with the Head of Group Tax to implement the Group’s overall global tax strategy and approach. Ensure the Group complies with its Group tax and related filing responsibilities (UK, Luxembourg). Prepare and review tax charges, provisions and notes both for internal and external reporting. Maintain a model of the group’s forecast book and cash tax profile. Ownership of all consolidated tax numbers in the Group Consolidated Financial Statement prepared under IFRS. This includes calculating, accounting for and managing deferred tax relevant to the statement. Consolidate tax provisions across 13 tax jurisdictions from local Gaap to facilitate reporting under IFRS. Preparation of the tax notes in the Group Consolidated Financial Statements. Prepare relevant tax accounting schedules to support the notes to the Group Consolidated Financial Statements. Business partnering with the regions to understand their commercial operations and changes to these, in order to actively monitor, manage, assist in mitigating potential tax risks, seizing opportunities and supporting the regions in tax audits including providing guidance, best practice and liaising with local advisers; Prepare and maintain of global transfer pricing documentation, specifically the country-by-country reporting requirements, benchmarking studies and the group’s global transfer pricing policies; The tax aspects of intra-group financing and commercial contracts and partnerships, with involvement from inception through execution and defense at audit Assist in ensuring that the group’s SAO obligations or equivalent in non-UK jurisdictions are met; Monitoring changes in the tax environment, for example the OECD’s BEPS project, in order to understand their impact on the group and its effective cash tax rates; Managing relationships and partially projects with P&C on i) tax issues arising from ESOP, LTIP, etc., ii) external tax advisors to ensure commercial and good value advice is received, and iii) internal depts (treasury team, HQ and local finance teams) to ensure project implementation is successfully delivered; WHAT IS TAKES The ideal candidate will be ACA qualified and ideally with CTA (or equivalents) and have: Well-rounded technical tax skills. Knowledge and experience of reporting under IFRS, in particular, detailed knowledge of IAS 12. The excellent interpersonal skills required to work effectively with colleagues across cultures and disciplines to ensure that the Group achieves compliance with a web of complex international requirements which may sometimes be perceived as inconvenient, unnecessary and an obstacle to business. Direct and demonstrable experience of successfully implementing and maintaining compliance regimes in other businesses or for clients whilst working in professional practice, including working at both a macro and a micro level on such regimes. Experience of international tax including transfer pricing, withholding tax, debt and IP. Experience of effectively managing external (or other) advisers and consultants on ongoing and project-based work. The desire and ability to innovate and to tackle challenges positively and creatively. A highly flexible and unflappable approach to handling a large workload in an environment with rapidly shifting priorities and unpredictable demands. A dynamic but measured personality with excellent presentational and influencing skills. A very high level of personal drive and motivation and the ability to progress matters with a significant degree of independence. A genuine curiosity about the Group’s business and the implications of tax for the Group and its products. Experience in industry working for a Multinational Corporation would be considered highly advantageous. Although a significant part of the work will involve dealing with people and reporting requirements overseas, no particular non-English language skills are required for this role.
