An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the Housing Strategy and Performance function of a large, high‑performing public sector housing provider. This newly enhanced role will play a critical part in strengthening regulatorypliance,ernance and service assurance across a diverse housing service.
You will lead on the development and delivery of a housing regulatory assurance and continuous improvement programme, ensuring services meet statutory and regulatory requirements and deliver safe, high‑quality oues for residents.
This is a visible, influential role, working closely with senior leaders, operational housing teams, residents and external partners to drive up standards, improve customer experience and embed a culture of learning and accountability.
Your new role
1. Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of housing regulatorypliance and assurance activity across the housing service.
2. Provide expert advice, challenge and support to housing teams to ensure statutory, regulatory and policypliance.
3. Carry out service reviews and diagnostic assessments, identifying areas of risk or nonpliance and developing clear, evidence‑based improvement plans.
4. Develop and monitor performance frameworks, KPIs and benchmarking, working collaboratively with data and performance colleagues.
5. Prepare and present formal reports, briefings and rmendations for senior leaders, elected members and other stakeholders.
6. Establish and maintain clear standards, procedures and controls, holding services to account and escalating risks appropriately.
7. Operate confidently in a fast‑paced, changeable environment, managing multiple priorities andpeting demands.
8. Engage directly with residents andmunities, ensuring customer feedback informs assurance and improvement activity.
9. Represent the housing service corporately, deputising for senior managers where required.
10. Maintain a strong focus on safeguarding, resident safety and risk management at all times.
What you'll need to succeed
You will bring significant experience from social housing, localernment or aparable regulated environment, with a clear understanding of how to balance regulatorypliance, service improvement and resident‑focused delivery.
You will have:
11. Strong knowledge of housing regulation and legislation, including consumer standards and the wider housing, homelessness and landlord agenda.
12. Demonstrable experience of service review, improvement planning and performance management, using structured project or programme methodologies.
13. Proven ability to prepare and implement policies, procedures, reports and presentations for a wide range of audiences.
14. Excellent investigative, analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a collaborative and solutions‑focused approach.
15. Experience managing budgets, resources andpeting priorities with diligence andmercial awareness.
16. Confidence engaging with residents, operational teams, senior leaders and elected members.
17. A strong public service ethos andmitment to improving oues for residents.
Desirable
18. Experience supporting or preparing for regulatory inspection and assurance regimes.
19. Professional qualification in housing or a related discipline, or working towards one.
