Job Description
Location: Unit 1, Stockholm Road

HATS Group is also regulated by Local Authorities for SEND services. Recognized for professionalism and excellence, with a fleet of over 800 vehicles, supporting various public and private healthcare institutions, delivering over 2,000,000 passenger movements annually.
We are seeking a PSV Company Bus Driver to join our team.
You will work Monday to Friday with flexible hours, generally between 07:00-09:00 and 14:30-16:30.
Job Purpose
A PSV Company bus driver is responsible for operating passenger vehicles, ensuring safety, comfort, and excellent customer service during journeys across HATS routes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Ensure safety and wellbeing of clients during journeys and handovers.
* Always wear high visibility PPE in vehicle movement areas.
* Observe speed limits within depots and school premises.
* Perform vehicle safety walk-around checks before service.
* Report any vehicle defects promptly to the appropriate personnel.
* Complete Vehicle Defect Cards or log defects electronically.
* Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the vehicle before starting service.
* Comply with laws and company policies regarding mobile phone use, smoking, and prohibited equipment.
* Ensure health, safety, security, and environmental safety for yourself, customers, and colleagues, including attending safety briefings and training.
* Report safety incidents following company procedures.
* Understand and follow emergency and evacuation plans.
* Keep the bus cab area safe and tidy.
* Provide high standards of customer service, including informing customers about road conditions and diversions.
* Behave professionally and friendly to customers and colleagues.
* Assist vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, and disabled passengers.
* Drive safely, legally, and professionally, adhering to timetables when possible.
* Stay updated on road conditions, diversions, and special events through notices and briefings.
* Hold valid driving and CPC licenses at all times, ready for inspection.
Work Environment and Licenses
* Hold a D1 category license with no restrictions and a valid CPC license.
* Maintain up-to-date medical certificates.
* Report any license changes affecting driving entitlement.
* Make licenses available for inspection biannually.
* Report to work punctually at designated locations with proper equipment and attire.
* Avoid working when overtired or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
* Follow notification procedures for absences and incidents.
* Participate in annual appraisals and provide feedback for service improvement.
* Adhere to all HATS policies and procedures.
* Undertake additional tasks as required by the company.
Additional Notes
Work involves outdoor environments, operating vehicles in all weather and traffic conditions, following instructed schedules, and reporting incidents or issues to supervisors.
Skills and Requirements
* Valid UK (or acceptable) driver’s license with no more than 6 penalty points.
* Good command of written and spoken English.
* Eligibility to work in the UK and provide references.
* Proven professional driving experience.
* Completion of 7 hours of DCPC training annually.
* Secondary education or equivalent.
* Willingness to undertake further training, e.g., NVQ.
* Ability to operate vehicles safely and competently.
* Good communication skills in English at ESOL Entry Level 2 or higher.
