Attendance Officer Specification
Empowering Learning is currently seeking a professional, compassionate, and self-motivated Attendance Officer to join the pastoral team at a vibrant primary school in Perry Barr, Birmingham. This is an exciting full-time opportunity to support student wellbeing and engagement by helping improve and maintain excellent attendance across the school.
As a school attendance officer will work under the guidance of experienced safeguarding and pastoral leads, playing a vital role in building consistent attendance habits, supporting early help strategies, and working closely with students and their families. Our client also offers 2.5 wellbeing days annually to support with maintaining a heathy work-life balance and promoting overall mental and emotional wellbeing.
Working as a School Attendance Officer you will:
Monitor daily student attendance and follow up on absences promptly
Identify patterns of poor attendance and implement interventions to improve engagement
Liaise with families, internal staff and external agencies to ensure coordinated support
Assist with safeguarding and early help processes where needed
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary pastoral team to create a culture of high expectations
Provide reports and data to senior leaders and contribute to wider pastoral initiativesRequirements:
Prior experience in a school, pastoral, or attendance-related role is desirable
Experience using Bromcom ideally
Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with children and adults
An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willing to obtain one)
