We're a family company which has expanded very rapidly over the past couple of years, started from fencing, expanding to selling timber and other materials. We are getting a lot of custom and cannot keep up with the work, therefore looking for an experienced salesperson to join our team of 25 people

We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Experienced Timber Merchant Salesperson to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of timber products and associated building materials, along with proven sales experience in a timber or builders' merchant environment. You will be responsible for developing customer relationships, driving sales, and providing expert product advice to both trade and retail clients.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and new customers.
* Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate timber and related products.
* Handle incoming sales inquiries via phone, email, and face-to-face interactions.
* Prepare accurate quotes and process orders efficiently.
* Work closely with internal departments (purchasing, logistics & yard staff) to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products.
* Maintain up-to-date product knowledge and keep informed of new products in the yard
* Support indoor shop and trade counter activities when needed.
* Maintain high levels of customer service at all times.
* Assist in stock control and merchandising.
Requirements:
* Proven sales experience in a timber merchant or builders' merchant environment (minimum 1-3 years is required).
* Strong knowledge of timber products and their uses (e.g.fencing, decking, sheet materials, treated timber etc).
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Good IT skills (MS Office, experience of Xero Accounting software is desirable)
