Department Overview

Role Responsibilities
1. Provide comprehensive adult Cardiac Surgical services for Coventry, Warwickshire, Birmingham, Northamptonshire, Kettering, and Worcester, in collaboration with clinical colleagues.
2. Participate in the Cardiac Surgery on-call rota.
Candidate Profile and Contract Details
The successful candidate will be appointed on the new consultant contract, which includes up to 10 Programmed Activities (PA’s). This comprises up to 7.5 PA’s for direct clinical care and 2.5 PA’s for supporting professional activities, supporting revalidation and CPD. Further SPA activities are negotiable, especially after the initial six months.
The DCC commitment involves clinical sessions as outlined. The on-call duty is 2 PA per week with a 5% supplement, and travel expenses between sites will be reimbursed. Travel time will be scheduled but minimized where possible.

Private practice can be undertaken without extra Programmed Activities, but must be declared annually. The Trust ensures annual appraisals, supports revalidation, and is committed to equitable working conditions. A job plan review will be scheduled within six months of appointment.
