What you will do:
- Recruit, train, assess, supervise, and support foster carers in their role of caring for children and young people.
- Ensure the highest professional standards in line with child and fostering legislation, regulations, and best practices.
- Provide a supportive and efficient service to children, young people, their families, and fostering families, ensuring their needs are thoroughly assessed.
- Investigate, evaluate, and analyse case information, offering clear assessments and realistic action plans.
- Develop practices that consider the holistic needs of each individual in their social context.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, fostering regulations, and council policies in all casework.
- Utilise ICT for comprehensive case recording as per service procedures.
- Collaborate with other agencies and organisations to support children's care plans and the work of foster carers.
- Take part in the recruitment, assessment, training, and ongoing development of foster carers to meet the diverse needs of our community.
- Participate in referral and allocation systems, ensuring all documentation is current for looked-after children.
- Attend panels, conferences, reviews, and court proceedings to present council plans and opinions with professionalism.
Requirements:
- Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW, CSS, or equivalent.
- GSCC Registration.
- Knowledge of child protection and issues affecting looked-after children.
- Understanding of social work intervention methods and relevant legislation.
- Familiarity with the Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and their Families.
- Experience in multi-disciplinary work and collaborating with foster carers.
