Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior IT professional to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing advanced technical support, managing computer systems, and ensuring the integrity of our IT infrastructure. This role requires a strong background in computer hardware, operating systems, and network management, along with excellent customer service and communication skills. The Senior IT will play a key role in troubleshooting complex issues, supporting end-users, and maintaining secure and efficient IT operations across the organization.
Responsibilities
Support and implement the IT Strategy in collaboration with the IT Technician and SLT, adapting it to meet business need and drive innovation in AI.
Champion cyber security for the site with an excellent knowledge of ICO standards.
Maintain regular communication with SLT, SMT and users to support network activities.
Manage daily tasks of the IT Technician, offering support and feedback whilst promoting development.
Attend SMT meetings and provide reports as required.
Ensure optimal performance of physical and virtual servers and network equipment (routers, switches, etc.).
Maintain and monitor security systems (firewalls, antivirus, web filtering).
Oversee software distribution and licensing compliance.
Proactively monitor IT infrastructure, flagging issues to prevent downtime.
Ensure robust backup and recovery procedures are in place and understood.
Assist with stock management and procurement by advising the SLT on equipment and licensing needs.
Contribute to IT budget planning with awareness of current and prospective financial position.
Ensure correct disposal of end-of-life IT equipment and maintain records.
Maintain inventory of all IT assets.
Manage user accounts.
Maintain and troubleshoot the phone system.
Demonstrate working knowledge of Windows systems.
Repair, upgrade, and configure IT hardware/software.
Support and train staff in IT use.
Maintain and replace printer consumables; track inventory and arrange repairs.
Organise and manage the IT tech room and equipment spares.
Diagnose LAN and cabling faults and maintain an overview of systems.
Support and deliver innovation introducing updated forms of working with AI
Work flexibly, including outside normal hours when required
Contribute to the overall aims and values, appreciate and support the roles of other members of the wider team and attend and participate in relevant meetings as required.
Provide expert-level technical support and desktop support to end-users across various platforms including Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Manage and maintain computer hardware, operating systems, and software applications such as Microsoft Office.
Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot computer networking components including LAN, VPNs, firewalls, and switches to ensure optimal network performance.
Assist with IT infrastructure management, including server administration and hardware upgrades.
Utilize IT service management tools such as BMC Remedy, ServiceNow, and Jira to track incidents, service requests, and project tasks.
Support help desk operations by resolving complex issues related to software troubleshooting, operating systems, and hardware failures.
Implement security measures including firewall configuration and VPN setup to protect organizational data.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve system performance and implement new technology solutions.
Document procedures and maintain detailed records of system configurations and troubleshooting steps.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
Deep technical expertise, leadership, strategy, and business acumen, alongside in-demand knowledge of emerging technologies like AI, cyber security, and cloud computing.
Key hard skills include proficiency in programming, software architecture, and data management, while crucial soft skills involve strong communication, problem-solving, and the ability to manage projects and guide teams.
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 8am-16pm
