Job Description:
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to over 1.15 million people, expanding to 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.
Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) offers a redesigned Geriatric Medicine Service in a modern facility, including duties at a new hospital with comprehensive support services. The position is based at QEUH, with some rehabilitation ward duties at Gartnavel General Hospital. Responsibilities include acute receiving duties for older adults on a 1:8 rotational basis, with onsite ward coverage from 8am to 8pm and out-of-hours on-call from home. The role involves acute assessment, short-stay, rehabilitation wards, and weekly geriatric clinics.
Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practice, and be eligible for the GMC Specialist Register in geriatric or general medicine. UK-trained candidates should have CCT or CESR. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training. The role requires the ability to work independently and lead multidisciplinary team meetings. Experience in complex discharge planning is desirable. Clinical supervision for resident doctors will be provided.
