SEN Behaviour Mentor

Primary SEMH Specialist School – Preston – Up to £600 per week – Full-Time

Are you driven to support children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

Do you have the resilience and confidence to manage challenging behaviour in a primary setting?

A well-established Primary SEMH specialist school in Preston is seeking a dedicated SEN Behaviour Mentor to support pupils with additional emotional and behavioural needs. This is a challenging role suited to candidates with high levels of resilience and empathy and is an extremely rewarding opportunity for the right personality.

The Role – SEN Behaviour Mentor

In this SEN Behaviour Mentor role, you will work with pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, providing 1:1 and small-group support to help them access learning and develop positive behaviours.

You will play a key role in managing challenging behaviour, using consistent, structured strategies to support emotional regulation and de-escalate situations effectively. Building strong, trusting relationships will be essential, as you act as a positive and reliable role model for pupils who require stability and encouragement.

You will support children with needs including SEMH, ADHD, Autism, and trauma-related behaviours, helping them overcome barriers to learning and build confidence.

What’s on Offer

1. Up to £600 per week
2. Full-time, long-term SEN Behaviour Mentor role
3. Immediate or September start available
4. Ongoing SEMH and behaviour management training
5. Supportive and experienced school team

Ideal Candidate – SEN Behaviour Mentor

6. Experience working with children or young people (school, youth work, care, coaching)
7. Strong behaviour management skills
8. Resilient, patient, and confident
9. Ability to build positive, trusting relationships
10. Passion for supporting vulnerable pupils

This SEN Behaviour Mentor role in Preston offers a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference while developing valuable SEMH experience. If you are keen to begin a long-term career in Psychology, Therapy Social work or similar, this SEN Behaviour Mentor role is the ideal opportunity for you.
