We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Data Scientist to join our Data Analytics team. As a Data Scientist at So Energy you will play a pivotal role in leveraging data to drive strategic decisions and solve complex challenges for the business. With a background in Data Science and leveraging tools and techniques in Data Analysis you will be working with project teams across various disciplines, from our contact centre and complaints to debt modelling. The ideal candidate should have advanced SQL and Python knowledge with a track record of successfully delivering data insights on complex business initiatives. What you’ll be getting up to: Utilize advanced SQL and Python skills to extract, clean, and analyse complex datasets, providing meaningful insights. Own data-driven projects, from defining objectives and methodologies to presenting findings and recommendations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs, develop analytical solutions, and drive data-driven decision-making. Design and implement advanced predictive models, machine learning algorithms, and statistical analyses to predict customer contact, identify debt risk and forecast consumption. Build robust data models, reports and dashboards from our Lakehouse (BigQuery) to support management information and regulatory reporting. Conduct deep dives into various business objectives to identify opportunities for improvement and enabling business decisions through data insights. Create clear and compelling data visualizations and reports to communicate insights to stakeholders at all levels. Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies in data analysis and data science. Contribute as part of an agile team with sprint planning sessions and daily stand ups. Communicate status, blockers, and progress in a clear and concise manner. This role will be a great fit if you have: Postgraduate degree in Data Science, Mathematics or Computer Science. Proven post qualification experience (5 years) in Data Analytics and Machine Learning with a strong focus on advanced SQL and Python skills. Experience within the Energy Supply Industry will be favourable. Prior experience with machine learning libraries (e.g., Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow). Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with large, messy datasets to extract valuable insights. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex findings to non-technical stakeholders. Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities with a keen attention to detail. A proactive and collaborative attitude, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
