An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Practice as a salaried GP due to our popularity and consistently rising list size.

We are an established training practice with consistently high QOF achievement. We encourage innovation in developing new models of care. For those who have partnership aspirations, we offer routes to partnership and have a unique programme.

Practice Summary

The West Pak Surgery is an Outstanding CQC rating at the Long Eaton Health Centre site and at the branch site of Park View Medical Centre. We are a secure, successful and forward looking practice.

The GP Partners hold key leadership positions in the PCN and the IC

We are part of Erewash Health Partnership and have access to a wide range of networked services including home visiting, care home support team, pharmacists, social prescribers and first contact physios. We offer all core services as well as minor surgery and contraceptive services.

Education remains an important part of the ethos of the practice, and we train registrars, medical students, non-medical prescribers as well as supporting apprentices from the local community. This culture of continuous improvement and development is core to who we are. Regular clinical meetings across both sites, network learning events and an allocated mentor mean that we create a safe and supportive environment.


Job Responsibilities

In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, Rapid Health, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation

Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness

Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols

Providing counselling and health education

Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate

Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards

Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)

Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate

In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care

Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies / guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety

A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice

Contributing to evaluation / audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation

Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records

Contributing to the summarising of patient records and read-coding patient data

Attending training and events organised by the practice, PCN or other agencies, where appropriate


Person Specification

Criteria

Knowledge

* Knowledge of GP contracts/enhanced services/QOF
* Knowledge of local agendas in respect to primary care
* Knowledge and completion of CPD to remain up to date with GP appraisal/revalidation
* Knowledge and understanding of PCN
* Specialist interests

Skills

* Ability to listen empathise
* Ability to lead in clinical areas/QOF/ES domains within practice
* Ability to work/lead as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Enhanced skills eg joint injections, minor surgery, education, family health etc
* Thorough understanding of clinical governance
* Keyboard skills and computer literacy
* Able to work under pressure
* Self‑motivated and positive
* Recognises own limits and acts appropriately
* Experience of multidisciplinary working
* Experience of SystmOne

Experience

* Telephone triage
* Medical education
* Home visiting
* Proven track record of delivering QOF
* Experience of working as duty doctor
* Fully qualified GP
* Higher postgraduate qualifications

Qualifications

* GMC full registration
* Currently on a performers list


Salaried GP (entry level)

* Allocated partner mentor
* 1 hour dedicated mentoring with allocated partner per month plus ad hoc time
* Structured surgeries
* Support for fellowships and external interests
* Opportunity for education and clinical supervision of registrars and medical students
* £9-10k per session depending on experience


Salaried GP with enhanced responsibilities (entry level only if recruited into this role)

* Allocated partner mentor
* Lead role for a significant practice area eg Educational Supervisor, Clinical Lead for safeguarding, Caldicott Guardian, Minor Surgery lead etc
* Protected time for additional responsibility
* £10 - 11k per session depending on experience


Associate GP partner

* Work in role of GP partner with senior leadership roles within practice
* Protected from liability within salaried GP employment structure
* Low risk way of testing whether partnership is correct
