Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant

Location: South Bristol and North Somerset
Age Group: Secondary

Protocol Education are recruiting passionate Graduates and Students of varying university degrees - particularly Psychology - who want to make a real impact in secondary schools across South Bristol and North Somerset. This is a fantastic opportunity to build your skills, gain confidence, and network within the education sector to springboard into a future career in education, psychology, or social care.

As a Teaching Assistant (TA) or a Learning Support Assistant you’ll work closely with teachers to support young people in their learning, behaviour, and personal development. The role is varied: you might be helping a student one to one, supporting small groups, or assisting the whole class. Every day brings a new challenge and the chance to make a genuine difference.

This role is ideal for graduates who are looking for flexible, practical classroom experience before progressing into teaching, educational psychology, or other child-focused careers.

What the job looks like

1. Supporting pupils’ learning in class and helping them achieve their potential

2. Assisting students with additional needs, using patience, care, and creativity

3. Managing behaviour in a calm and constructive way, in line with school policies

4. Building strong relationships with staff and students alike

5. Reporting progress and safeguarding concerns with professionalism and accuracy

6. Psychology graduates or students with a passion for working with young people

7. A calm, encouraging nature and the resilience to handle challenges with a calm, warm demeanour

8. Flexibility, a positive attitude, and a sense of humour (a classroom essential!)

9. No prior school experience needed; just the drive to make a difference

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
