Premier Engineering is working with a well-established engineering company based in Barnsley that is looking to hire a Mechanical Design Engineer.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
* A degree or qualification in Mechanical Engineering (BEng, MEng, HND, HNC, etc.).
* Experience in mechanical design within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
* Proficiency in 3D CAD software (such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or AutoCAD).
* Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including fabrication, machining, and sheet metal design.
* Ability to produce detailed technical drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Good communication skills to liaise with internal teams and external suppliers.
The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
* Creating 3D models and technical drawings for mechanical components and assemblies.
* Developing innovative design solutions for engineering projects.
* Working closely with production and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are feasible.
* Conducting design reviews and making modifications as required.
* Producing detailed documentation, including BOMs and technical specifications.
* Ensuring all designs comply with industry standards and regulations.
* Supporting the continuous improvement of design processes.
