Configuration Manager – Meritus
We are looking for an experienced Configuration Manager to join a leading defence engineering organisation based in Stevenage. You will play a key role in ensuring the controlled application of configuration management (CM) processes that underpin the design, development, and delivery of complex engineering products.
Location: Stevenage (Hybrid – 1‑2 days on‑site)
Pay: £50 per hour (via Umbrella)
Contract: 12‑month contract – likely to extend
Citizenship: UK required
Security: SC clearance required (BPSS to start)
Responsibilities
* Lead configuration management activities across multiple engineering programmes.
* Support and mentor project CM leads, helping embed best practice and process consistency.
* Develop, review, and deliver configuration management plans, procedures, and documentation.
* Ensure compliance with internal and external configuration standards and regulatory requirements.
* Collaborate with engineering, project management, and quality teams to maintain control of technical data and baselines.
* Drive improvements in CM effectiveness process maturity across the business.
Qualifications
* Strong background in Configuration Management within engineering, defence, or aerospace environments.
* Excellent understanding of the product lifecycle and key project delivery milestones.
* Hands‑on experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools such as Windchill (PTC).
* Familiar with configuration control, change management, and documentation best practice.
* Confident communicator who can influence, coach, and collaborate effectively across disciplines.
* CMII certification (or equivalent) is highly desirable.
* Knowledge of project management principles and/or experience delivering CM training would be advantageous.
