Senior Payments Specialist (Yorkshire)
Generate revenue by promoting the bank's diverse product and service offerings to various customer segments, focusing on the SME market.
Responsibilities
* Identify and analyze potential customers, their needs, preferences, and emerging market trends, and craft detailed target customer profiles.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with both current and prospective customers, delivering high‑quality support, resolving queries, and gaining trust.
* Understand the features, benefits, risks, and compliance requirements of banking products and communicate insights clearly to customers.
* Develop compelling sales pitches and proposals, negotiate terms that benefit both clients and the bank, and convert leads into customers.
* Collect and analyze customer feedback to inform product development and sales strategies.
* Monitor key sales metrics—including lead conversion rates and customer acquisition costs—to assess performance and drive improvements.
* Generate new business within the SME segment through face‑to‑face client interactions, maintaining a robust pipeline via CRM.
* Deliver a quality customer experience while meeting internal measures and processes.
Qualifications & Experience
* Extensive knowledge of the SME industry and strong communication skills with SME customers.
* Proven track record of exceeding target expectations in volume/value of new business.
* Experience in self‑generating new business opportunities.
* Proficiency in pipeline management and CRM systems at a fast pace.
* Team‑player mindset with the ability to articulate broader business scenarios.
* Ability to build relationships with customers, key business introducers, and senior internal stakeholders.
* Good understanding of B2B sales and industry-specific needs.
* Desirable: Knowledge of the SME payments industry and awareness of Barclaycard’s market positioning.
* Business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology literacy, and knowledge of risk, controls, change, and transformation.
Location & Schedule
The role is based in Yorkshire. The incumbent must meet clients in person a minimum of three days per week.
