Overview
SSEN is seeking a Senior Project Manager to support the Distribution ED2 price control period and deliver Net Zero‑enabling projects through upgrade and replacement of our electricity network. As part of the Large Capital Delivery team, you will lead multidisciplinary project teams in the design and execution of electrical infrastructure projects, ensuring safe, on‑time, and on‑budget delivery that meets evolving customer needs.
Responsibilities
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, demonstrating professionalism and competence across all stages of project delivery.
* Establish and maintain a robust, high‑quality programme of works throughout the project lifecycle, managing critical‑path activities, coordinating workstreams, and tracking key material deliveries.
* Set up financial controls and measures for visibility of all project expenditure, enabling easy cost interrogation.
* Lead, motivate, challenge, and empower the team to achieve goals and milestones, providing clear instructions and celebrating achievements.
* Demonstrate outstanding behaviours and act as an ambassador for SSE SHE policies, values, and culture both internally and externally.
Qualifications
* Experience in project design and delivery organization with portfolio and project management of capital infrastructure/engineering projects, driving delivery to program, cost, and quality.
* Risk management experience, articulating key delivery risks, causes, and impacts on budget and programme.
* Exceptional leadership skills with experience managing large, high‑performing teams.
* Solid understanding of commercial contracts and the ability to apply the most appropriate form to project needs.
* Experience managing project stakeholders and ensuring alignment with agreed processes (e.g., communication protocols, response times).
Travel and Vehicle
This role requires travel across various locations to support business needs. The company will provide work‑related vehicle access; a valid driving licence is essential. A company car or cash allowance may be offered subject to policy criteria.
