To be successful

To besuccessful, you will have...

* Eligiblefor registration in the category of Registered Nurse by theNursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
* Demonstrated commitmentin the application of Primary Health Care Principles and aCommunity Development approach to practice.
* Demonstrated knowledgeof cultural factors and social determinants, particularly asthey relate to Aboriginal Health.
* Demonstrated ability tofunction independently and as part of a multidisciplinary,multi sectoral and interagency team.
* Excellent interpersonal,verbal and written communication skills including the use ofcomputer programs.
* CurrentC Class drivers Licence and an ability and willingness totravel including overnight stays away from home.


Position profile

PositionProfile: The Clinical Nurse, SchoolHealth Generalist Community Nurse, is responsible for deliveringthe WA School Health program which is delivered utilising theprinciples of Primary Health Care and a Community Developmentapproach to achieve the optimum state of health for individuals,families and communities with the emphasis in the area of SchoolHealth. The School Health Nurse contributes to primary health carethat is holistic, works in multi-disciplinary, multi-sectoral andinteragency service delivery models and provides health care with ahigh level of cross-cultural capability.

Area Profile

AreaProfile: WACHS Kimberley is the mostnorthern health region of WACHS. The Kimberley region hasapproximately 200 Aboriginal communities, over 34 differentAboriginal language groups and 45 percent of the population areAboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. WACHS Kimberleyconsists of six hospitals, an inpatient mental health unit, threeCommunity Directorates and a Corporate Office. WACHS Kimberleyprovides hospital, community health, public health, remote areahealth, community aged care, and mental health services across theregion through a dedicated team of medical, nursing, Aboriginalhealth, allied health, and support staff.
