Role

Lady Lumley’s Academy is seeking a Head of Department for Technology to join in September 2026 on a full‑time, permanent basis.

Are you looking for a role that will enable you to influence and inspire the children in your curriculum area? Do you want to work for a Trust that is transforming educational outcomes for students? If so, this could be the role for you.

Our Head of Department for Technology role presents a brilliant opportunity to play a pivotal part in the improvement journey of our academy. You will need resilience, emotional intelligence as well as the ability to work with and take colleagues with you. Coaching and mentoring will be in your DNA. As part of the middle leadership team, you will play an important role in transforming our academy.

We are looking to appoint a skilled teacher, who has experience of teaching across KS3, KS4 and KS5, and a developing leader who will drive improvement across the disciplines of Food and Design Technology. The teaching responsibility will be in Food. We are looking for someone with a proven track record of raising both attainment and standards of teaching and learning within Food and Design Technology.

Our Curriculum

We currently offer a Key Stage 3 experience that prepares students for progression to GCSE, develops essential life skills as well as instilling a lifelong love of learning. We follow the AQA specification for both GCSE Design and Technology and Food Preparation and Nutrition. At Post‑16 we follow the Level 3 Diploma in Food Science and Nutrition specification from Eduqas.

About Us

Lady Lumley’s is an 11‑18 mixed comprehensive, community school which is a warm and welcoming place to learn and teach. We strive to “Be our best”, working to improve the experience for all students, staff, and the community. Our broad and balanced curriculum is ambitious for all, and we place great value in academic qualifications alongside arts and practical subjects.

In 2025 Lady Lumley’s Year 11 students were the highest performing at GCSE Maths and English 5+ in the area and across the entirety of North Yorkshire barring three selective schools. We are proud of the opportunities this has given our students. Many continue to thrive in our Sixth Form, which was the top performing provider in the area, and our students went on to an array of universities and apprenticeships. We are ambitious for even better this year!

We ensure that our pupils can learn in a safe and supportive environment. We believe all students should have the opportunity to feel proud of their achievements. We reward pupils for good behaviour, attendance, achievement and effort, running a number of celebration events throughout the year.

Set in an idyllic location, we make the most of fantastic sporting facilities and run an immensely popular Duke of Edinburgh experience alongside over 30 enrichment clubs. Our students and staff are loyal to Lady Lumley’s and are committed to improving our learning journey, whilst celebrating success.

How Will We Support You?

As part of Delta Academies Trust you’ll have access to ongoing CPD (both internally and externally) with the opportunity to further develop your skills and career alike. You’ll join a large network of colleagues across the Trust, meaning there’s collaboration and peer support both within our academy and beyond. You’ll regularly have the opportunity to work alongside a Director of English, for instance, who supports the team with assessment, planning and intervention.

You will also have access to an extensive range of employee benefits that focus on your financial, physical and mental wellbeing.

To arrange an introductory conversation or a visit to the Academy, please contact us on (01751) 380097.

In accordance with DfE Keeping Children Safe in Education, an online search will be completed on all shortlisted applicants prior to interview. Any relevant information will be discussed further with the applicant during the recruitment process.
