What you will be doing
With experience from the NHS or private care, you will support the Ward Manager to lead the nursing team in providing high-quality care and support to people with complex mental health needs and behaviours that challenge, while also supporting your colleagues and promoting good teamwork. As a Charge Nurse, you will empower recovery and deliver supervision to staff across the ward to deliver great healthcare. You will work alongside the senior Nurse and Ward Manager to co‑ordinate the on‑call service, manage the ward budgets, and lead by example, acting as a role model to all members of the nursing team, leading care teams and creating a positive learning environment that makes a difference and changes lives for the better.
Other duties include:
* Providing Clinical Leadership and expertise
* Providing leadership and guidance to support a unified service and engaged workforce
* Ensuring that high standards are in place, followed and improved in accordance with the Clinical Governance framework
* Utilising and supervising all nursing staff effectively
* Being an expert resource on nursing care of service users within the specialism and holding a key role in the multidisciplinary team
* Maintaining a positive and collaborative environment to allow ward members to reach their potential and maximise their ability to provide high‑quality care, staff welfare and staff training
* Designated to take charge of the ward in the Ward Managers absence

* A relevant nursing qualification
* NMC registration
* A positive attitude and a natural caring and compassionate disposition
* A commitment to high‑quality care and to values and evidence‑based practice
* Relevant experience in a similar environment
* Proven track record of leadership skills
Where you will be working
Location: Victoria Road, Huyton, Liverpool, L36 5SA. You will be working at Victoria Gardens, a specialist locked rehabilitation for people with complex mental health needs and behaviours that challenge, as well as a ward for older females. You will support the service to equip service users with the skills required for community living and increased independence. The service is a recovery‑based service and incorporates the Good Lives Model, supported by individualised interventions. You will work as part of the multidisciplinary team which includes Nursing, Consultant Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Occupational Therapist and Social Worker support.
