Job Description - Management Accountant Exclusive with Robert Half
Location: Milton Keynes (with 1 day/week in Birmingham)
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Purpose
The Management Accountant will play a key role in delivering robust financial reporting and controls, with a strong focus on contract profitability analysis, Month-end Accounting and group consolidation. The role is responsible for accurate, timely accounting, supporting business performance through insightful reporting, and driving improvements in processes, cost control, and manufacturing accounting. The post-holder will also support site performance in Birmingham and assist the CFO with projects and system upgrades.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead on contract profitability reporting and analysis, presenting findings to management and supporting performance reviews.
2. Support the Financial Controller in management accounts for three entities and maintain balance sheet reconciliations.
3. Investigate and explain month-end variances.
4. Prepare group consolidation (P&L, Balance Sheet, cashflow) and monthly reporting packs.
5. Reconcile intercompany balances monthly.
6. Ensure accurate accounting across group entities.
7. Birmingham (1 day/week):
8. Support site management to improve performance
9. Credit control, stock takes, and cost control
10. Develop manufacturing accounting and manage R&D tax credits
11. Maintain and review reconciliations, escalating issues promptly.
12. Lead on budgets and forecasts with CFO/FC.
13. Assist in statutory accounts, compliance, and banking submissions.
14. Drive process improvements and support financial system upgrades.
15. Undertake projects to modernise financial services.
16. Support CFO with ad hoc tasks.
Additional: Occasional out-of-hours work, training requirements, DBS check, adherence to policies, and PPE when required.
Person Specification
Essential:
17. AAT or ACCA/CIMA/ACA part-qualified
18. A Levels or equivalent
19. Strong bookkeeping and management accounting experience
20. Proven analytical skills, including contract profitability and financial statement preparation
21. Experience with integrated finance systems (ledger, payments, debtors)
22. Strong planning, organisation, and problem-solving skills
23. High attention to detail, confidentiality, and accuracy
24. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
25. Excellent communication and people skills
Desirable:
26. Experience in facilities management, construction, health, or social care
27. ACCA/CIMA/ACA qualified
28. NetSuite and multi-site reporting experience
