We’re looking for dedicated and hardworking individuals to join our Portering Team as a Patient Movement Porter at Dewsbury and District Hospital Hub. In this front-of-house role, you’ll play a vital part in supporting patient care by: safely and efficiently transferring patients throughout the hospital; assisting with the timely collection and delivery of specimens and essential equipment; ensuring every patient’s experience is handled with dignity, care, and respect. You’ll be part of a dynamic team at the heart of hospital operations, making a real difference every day. We have 1 full-time position working 37.5 hours per week as follows – 5 over 7 within a 24-hour period. Please note this advert may be closed earlier than the advertised closing date.

Job Description and Responsibilities
* The conveyance or movement of patients by wheelchair, trolley or bed.
* Movement of deceased patients to the mortuary.
* Changing of medical gas cylinders as required.
* Escorting of patients and visitors.
* Collection and disposal of refuse, including clinical waste generated by the retained estate.
* Rotate through all portering duties and departments as required to meet service delivery requirements.
* Respond to requests within minimum time enabling the department to meet Service Level Agreements with other Trust departments.
* Respond to crash and fire calls and hold the bleep as requested by Supervisors or team leaders.
* On occasion, an experienced post holder may be asked to supervise a supernumerary member of staff to assist in induction.
* Understand the operation of the department to assist in its smooth running and prioritise workloads.
* Ensure that all equipment is safe and clean at all times for patient use, including sanitizing wheels chairs and mortuary trolleys between uses.
* May be required to work as a link operator to cover the service at times of staff shortage.
