Role Overview
TP Tutors are currently working alongside Schools, Local Authorities, and Virtual Schools across South Tyneside to provide support to students in Functional Skills. As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals to develop their skills in English and Maths.
About Our Students
The majority of the students we support at TP Tutors face challenges such as behavioural issues, SEN, SEMH, and being looked after children. Our goal is to equip these students with the skills they need to succeed in later life.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging 1-1 and group-based functional skills sessions.
2. Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their learning and development.
3. Identify individual learner needs and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
4. Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and achievements using our online platform.
5. Be attentive to children’s emotional and individual needs.
Qualifications and Experience
* Preferred: Professional Teaching Qualification (QTS) or significant tutoring experience.
* Experience working with children/young people with SEND, SEMH, or other additional needs.
* Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one (support provided).
* Professional references from your two most recent employers covering a total of 24 months within a 10-year career span.

Additional Information
Pay rates include 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This position is temporary, with potential for permanence later. Safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS, are required, with full support provided. Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting child welfare, in accordance with DfE guidance.
