The role
Join PwC’s Strategy& Procurement team to unlock value through cost transformation, improve supply chain resilience, and deliver rapid, measurable value through best-in-class procurement transformation. As experts within our field, we help clients move procurement from “efficient enabler” to a true source of competitive advantage—combining category excellence, digital enablement, and execution at pace. Our work couples pragmatic cash release and working capital improvement with sustainable performance gains that stick.
As part of the broader Deals Business Unit and the S& Operations team, which comprises the specialist Working Capital, Supply Chain & Procurement business unit, our expertise is both broad and deep, providing true partnership in this endeavour. We bring proven strategic and operational expertise to identify and enable value levers, corroborated by deep sector-specific knowledge. We create, realise and protect value for you; enabling faster growth, strategic refocus, resilience and a competitive edge; be it through transactions, or business optimisation.
What your days will look like:
1. Lead category management
Build and execute multiyear category strategies: baseline demand and spend, use market intelligence, segment suppliers, define value levers and roadmaps, and embed risk/performance frameworks.
2. Own end to end sourcing delivery -
Stand up and run RFx/esourcing events, lead negotiations, oversee commercial/contract terms with Legal, and manage supplier onboarding and transition through to verified benefits realisation.
3. Deliver value to target (cost & cash) -
Shape savings pipelines, set baselines and KPIs, and track benefits to P&L and working capital in partnership with Finance—meeting or exceeding agreed targets.
4. Strengthen operating model & P2P -
Design and embed procurement policies, processes, controls and governance across strategy, sourcing, contracting, SRM and P2P; address maverick spend and throughput issues to improve compliance and cycle times.
5. Enable digital procurement & analytics -
Drive business adoption (not configuration) of modern S2P tools; cleanse and structure spend data; use analytics to scan opportunities and track delivery; and integrate thirdparty risk considerations.
6. Embed ESG within procurement -
Integrate sustainability criteria and Scope 3 awareness into sourcing decisions and supplier management; support supplier improvement and reporting.
7. Lead teams and stakeholders -
Plan and manage multidisciplinary teams; coach Senior Associates/Associates; craft executiveready materials; facilitate workshops and SteerCos; and manage risks/issues.
8. Support practice growth -
Contribute to proposals, case studies and pointsofview; help refine our procurement propositions and delivery toolkits; and act as a role model for junior team members.
This role is for you if:
9. Proven savings delivery—track record of meeting or exceeding agreed costsavings targets, with benefits tracked through to P&L recognition and working capital impact.
10. Category management depth—experience crafting and executing category strategies (demand/supply analysis, market intelligence, supplier segmentation, risk & performance management).
11. End to end sourcing expertise—handson leadership of RFx, commercial modelling, negotiations and contract finalisation; confident operating across direct and indirect spend types without sector limitation.
12. SRM & supplier performance—ability to set up governance, scorecards and improvement plans; address performance slippage, risk and compliance issues.
13. Operating model & P2P improvement—experience designing/embedding policies, processes and controls; understanding of common P2P failure modes and remedies.
14. Digital & analytics fluency—advanced Excel; exposure to analytics tools (e.g., Alteryx, Tableau) and leading S2P suites (e.g., SAP, Coupa, iCertis) to derive insights and drive adoption.
15. ESG integration—awareness of Scope 3 and how sustainability criteria influence sourcing and supplier management; ability to translate ESG goals into procurement actions.
16. Consulting craft & leadership—clear, persuasive communication; structured problem solving; stakeholder management; programme management in ambiguous, fastpaced environments; and coaching of junior team members.
