Project Manager – Rail & Civil Engineering

About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of rail and civil engineering projects across the North Wales Coast. The focus will be on footbridge widening and accessibility projects such as Sandy Lane and Pen Uchaf schemes, and wider CP7 civils and structures works. The role involves full responsibility for project delivery from pre‑construction to completion, managing teams, programme, cost, safety, quality and stakeholder relationships in a fast‑paced, possession‑based environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage projects from pre‑qualification, tendering and mobilisation through to completion and handover.
* Lead and coordinate site teams, including Site Engineers, Site Agents, subcontractors and supply chain partners.
* Ensure teams understand contract requirements, programme constraints and resource needs.
* Provide visible leadership across site and office teams, promoting high standards of delivery.
* Take overall responsibility for SHEQ performance, ensuring compliance with all legislative, contractual and company requirements.
* Plan and control ITPs, WPPs, Task Briefs and possession documentation.
* Promote a strong safety culture across all works, including weekend and night‑shift possessions.
* Plan and manage project programmes, including possession‑based works.
* Monitor progress against programme and budget, implementing corrective actions where required.
* Work closely with commercial teams to manage cost, change control and variations.
* Support the identification and management of contract change and risk.
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with Network Rail, Transport for Wales, clients, designers and local stakeholders.
* Act as the primary escalation point for project issues, ensuring solutions are delivered efficiently.
* Provide regular progress, performance and commercial updates to senior management.
* Support business development by identifying opportunities for repeat work and framework growth in North Wales.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Degree / HNC / HND in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience).
* Proven experience as a Project Manager within rail and/or complex civil engineering environments.
* Experience delivering civils and structures projects such as footbridges, bridges, structural refurbishments, reconstructions and DDA/Access for All schemes.
* PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification.
* SMSTS certification.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
