Role Summary
The Semiconductor Process Engineering Manager is responsible for leading process engineering teams supporting Diffusion, Wet Etch, and CMP modules in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role ensures safe, stable, and capable processes that meet yield, quality, cost, and cycle-time targets, while enabling technology transfers and continuous process improvements. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong people leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Process Leadership
* Own end-to-end process health, performance, and roadmap for Diffusion, Wet Etch, and CMP modules
* Ensure processes meet yield, defectivity, reliability, and cost of ownership (CoO) targets
* Lead process characterisation, optimisation, SPC, and control methodology improvements
* Drive root cause analysis and corrective action for process excursions and yield loss events
* Support new product introductions (NPI), technology transfers, and node transitions
* Partner with Equipment Engineering to define tool qualifications, process windows, and hardware improvements
People & Team Management
* Lead, mentor, and develop a team of process engineers and technicians
* Set clear goals, performance expectations, and development plans
* Build technical depth and succession planning within the process engineering organization
* Promote a strong safety culture and adherence to EHS standards
Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Work closely with Manufacturing, Yield Engineering, Device Engineering, Integration, Quality, and Supply Chain teams
* Interface with external vendors and technology partners on process and material improvements
* Present process status, risks, and improvements to fab and senior leadership
Continuous Improvement & Strategy
* Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
* Develop medium- and long-term process roadmaps aligned with business and technology strategies
Implement best-in-class practices for advanced process control (APC) and statistical process monitoring.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
* 5+ years of semiconductor process engineering experience, with 2+ years in a leadership or management role
* Hands-on expertise in one or more of the following:
o Diffusion (oxidation, LPCVD, implant anneal)
o Wet Etch (single wafer, batch, chemical controls, defect reduction)
o CMP (planarity control, consumables optimization, defectivity reduction)
* Strong understanding of semiconductor process integration and yield impacts
* Proven experience driving process improvements in a high-volume manufacturing fab
Preferred Qualifications
* Master's or PhD in a relevant engineering discipline
* Experience supporting advanced technology nodes or specialty device platforms
