Offer description

Seeking a Mental Health Support Worker/Learning Mentor!

Are you passionate about making a positive impact?

Do you enjoy working with children or vulnerable adults, particularly those with special educational needs?

Do you come from a social care background?

Or have you supported someone with SEND in your personal life?

If you answered yes to any of the above, we’d love to hear from you!

Protocol Education is currently recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant/Teaching Assistant to join a Pupil Referral Unit in Southend.

You’ll be part of a dedicated and supportive team working with students who have social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. While experience in this area is welcome, it's not essential — what matters most is your enthusiasm and willingness to help others.

We're looking for someone who brings a warm, positive attitude to learning and can build strong, trusting relationships with students. This role can be challenging, so resilience and a strong character are key.

This is a long-term, full-time opportunity, and we’re seeking candidates who are available Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.

If you're committed to supporting young people with special needs and feel this role is a good fit for you, apply today!

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Protocol Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.

We offer FREE online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training to all our workers. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service.

Full assistance provided. For details of our privacy policy, please see visit the Protocol Education website
