Description We are looking for a Project Engineer to support the preconstruction and procurement team for an upcoming construction project, with potential to grow into a future role on the main construction works. CosMott JV (Costain and Mott McDonald) are providing expertise to support a large infrastructure upgrade programme at Devonport Royal Dockyard. This contributes towards meeting the MOD’s future long-term requirements in relation to both its warship and submarine programmes. As the Project Engineer, you will support the Preconstruction project manager in the procurement and onboarding of multiple subcontractors for the entire project including, the main works contractor, subcontractors and specialist subcontractors for the enabling works. These procurement activities will need to ensure that successful procurement of contractors takes into consideration that the works will be taking place in a highly regulated environment, in close proximity to a number of key stakeholders and must ensure that the successful companies are competent to operate in this environment. In addition to procurement activities, the successful candidate will support the Design Project Manager as required This role is based remotely, with some flexibility on when and how often visits to site are made. The role is primarily a full-time role, but this can be discussed. Candidates must be able to obtain security clearance. Responsibilities Assist with the development of sub-contract scopes as well as the main works scope (for a D&B contract) Assist with the procurement, selection and onboarding of contractors and subcontractors to complete the work scopes. Once a main contractor has been awarded the contract, you will be responsible for the onboarding and mobilisation of the contractor, this will include but not be limited to, the development of the construction phasing, logistics, laydown areas, stakeholder interface and construction planning works, as well as design related activities. Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners' Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability Policies, processes and statutory requirements as they affect the project’s operations and ensure that the tender process and design reflect these. Qualifications Essential: Degree level/HNC/HND qualification in Civil Engineering or project management (or equivalent experience) Experience at a similar level on a major project or in a highly regulated environment. An awareness of the procurement process and a willingness to learn and gain experience. Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practice. IT competence (MS Word, Excel, Document control system). Would suit an engineer / project manager with 3-4 years professional experience seeking commercial and preconstruction exposure Desirable Experience working in a nuclear environment. NEC3/4 contract experience. Working towards accredited membership at a relevant professional institution (ICE, CIOB etc.). LI-MF1
