Head of Operations
Location: Northampton (Office-based)
Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 (dependent on experience)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

Due to ongoing growth, they are now seeking a forward-thinking Head of Operations to oversee both field and office functions, ensuring smooth, efficient, and high-quality service delivery across all areas of the business.
The Role
As Head of Operations, you will take full ownership of the day-to-day operational performance of the business. This senior leadership position involves overseeing engineering field teams, scheduling and support functions, customer service, and compliance. You’ll drive continuous improvement, support strategic initiatives, and ensure that projects and services are delivered efficiently, profitably, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
* Lead, mentor, and manage department heads including Regional Managers, Customer Service, and Compliance.
* Ensure effective coordination between field engineers and office-based teams.
* Promote a culture of performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Operational Strategy & Delivery
* Develop and implement strategies to improve service efficiency and operational excellence.
* Ensure timely, high-quality delivery of projects and services.
* Streamline installation and maintenance processes.
Financial Management
* Collaborate with Finance to oversee budgets and cost control.
* Analyse performance data to improve margins and identify opportunities for savings.
Compliance & Risk
* Maintain full compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, and health & safety protocols.
* Proactively manage risk and resolve operational challenges.
Technology & Innovation
* Stay informed on industry trends in telematics, vehicle safety tech, and aftermarket installations.
* Identify opportunities for innovation and operational improvement.
Customer Service & Support
* Work closely with customer-facing teams to ensure a seamless service experience.
* Handle escalations effectively and uphold service quality.
Performance Monitoring
* Deliver operational performance reports to senior leadership.
* Establish and monitor KPIs to track efficiency and team performance.
Staff Development
* Oversee training and development across engineering and support teams.
* Support leadership development through coaching and mentoring.
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven success in an operations leadership role, ideally in a technical or engineering-led business.
* Experience managing field service teams and administrative functions.
* Strong leadership and project management skills.
* Financial literacy and experience overseeing departmental budgets.
* Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
* Working knowledge of compliance, quality standards, and health & safety.
* Familiarity with ISO standards (e.g. 9001, 14001, 27001) is an advantage.
