Overview
Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor – Kent. A busy food manufacturing site that values practical safety leadership and conversation about safety, not just paperwork. The role is hands-on, fast-paced, and requires engaging with the team from the shop floor to senior management.
Responsibilities
* Be the go-to person for all things Health, Safety and Environmental, advising managers and supporting the site safety management system (ISO 45001).
* Run toolbox talks, conduct risk assessments, and help shape safety practices that actually land with people.
* Run audits, inspections, and training that lands with people rather than death-by-PowerPoint.
* Monitor accident trends and ensure lessons are learned to prevent recurrences.
* Investigate incidents properly and thoroughly, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
* Engage in environmental initiatives and growing sustainability efforts.
* Occasionally work outside standard hours (about twice a month in the evenings) for site audits or coaching sessions.
Requirements
* NEBOSH Certificate (minimum) and a solid understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation.
* Experience in a similar role, ideally in manufacturing or a food environment, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels (ops floor to senior management).
* Curious, credible, practical mindset with the ability to spot risks and have constructive safety conversations.
