Residential Child Care Worker | Register your Interest
As part of our "Where Our Children Live" programme, we are seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to join our Children's Residential Service, as Residential Child Care Workers.
There are two, exciting, new settings due to open in Skelmersdale, and we're looking for the right people to help us launch these initiatives which include:
* Pause & Reflect Home
* SPACE Hub
To provide more insight into these opportunities, we will be hosting a Recruitment Roadshow on the 2nd of March, at Ormskirk Civic Hall and invite you to register your interest today
About the role...
As a Residential Child Care Worker, you would work from a children's home where children and young people aged between 11 years and 17 years live. Residential Child Care Workers eat and sleep at the home with the children and young people and undertake basic household tasks – cleaning, cooking, shopping.
Our children cannot live safely with their parent(s) or family, for a variety of reasons such as adverse childhood experience or trauma. Residential Child Care Workers listen and engage our children in 1:1 work around feelings, emotions and behaviours and link with other professionals, such as social workers, schools, police, and health workers to ensure our children's needs are met.
About the homes...
While both homes are located in Skelmersdale, the role & support they provide is vastly different.
Pause & Reflect
The Pause & Reflect home is a 2-Bedroom Home which will cater to young people, aged These young people will be in urgent need of support & accommodation in the absence of any alternatives. While the placements will be short-term, we will need individuals who are committed to providing care during this time and willing to go the extra mile to support the young people during their time at the home.
SPACE Hub
SPACE (Supporting and Preventing Additional Care Experiences) hubs offer a dynamic, community-based approach to care and support for children, young people and families. This is a new, exciting initiative designed to support children, young people and families across Lancashire.
Each hub provides four core services:
* Diversion from care – offering immediate and preventative support to help families stay together.
* Reunification – supporting children in care to return safely to their families.
* Stabilisation of care arrangements – strengthening existing care arrangements including SGO, foster care and more to prevent unplanned endings
* Tailored support – enhancing our Pause and Reflect care arrangements and the 16/17 year old homeless protocol.
The SPACE hubs represent a significant step forward in our commitment to early intervention, family preservation and care stability.
About you...
We are seeking individuals who are committed to helping our young people thrive. While experience is always desirable, we're looking for candidates who hold the personal qualities that matter to our young people, including:
* Passion – Thinking creatively to ensure that our children are supported to achieve their aspirations (no matter how big or small) will need to be top of your list We are looking for passionate practitioners (irrelevant of length of experience) who truly care and want to make a difference to children, young people and families.
* Enthusiasm – Some days will be tough, for our children, for you, and for your colleagues - we're after someone who is dedicated and committed, and who will always go that extra mile for our children (even on the bad days). Working as part of a close professional team is really important and you will need to be a team player to get through those tough times.
* Forward thinking – We are an expanding service with big ideas and aspirational views. We are looking for workers who can join our team and join us on this exciting journey, making contributions to help shape and inform the future of the service for our children
Due to the outreach nature of the roles at our SPACE Hubs we would require you to have a drivers license and access to your own vehicle. However this is only desirable at our Pause & Reflect Home.
If you have a passion for building relationships with children and motivation to make a meaningful difference, then we want to hear from you
