Overview
Primary Mental Health Worker (PMHW) in the Early Intervention CAMHS service. Working as part of a friendly, supportive, and creative multi-disciplinary team to provide high-quality advice, support and brief interventions to children and young people under 18 with mild to moderate mental health difficulties. Professional qualification in nursing, social work, therapy or equivalent is required.
Role
The PMHW is a diverse role, working holistically within an MDT alongside Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners (CWP), Psychological Therapists and Counsellors. Based in the East and Central localities, you will join Suffolk Early Intervention CAMHS as a Band 6 PMHW in the Under 18 Wellbeing team on a permanent part-time contract (30 hours) with potential to increase hours in the future. The service is transitioning to a place-based approach with three locality teams (East, Central, West Suffolk) and will work closely with education, health and social care partners.
Responsibilities
* Offer consultation and training for schools and professionals
* Facilitate groups for parents and support delivery of therapeutic groups for children and young people
* Present webinars on children’s mental health
* Undertake assessments and direct work with children, young people and families, managing a caseload
Training and Professional Development
Opportunities to develop clinical skills and practice, including shadowing colleagues during induction, Facilitating groups, and providing consultation to schools and other agencies. Training and support will be provided to gain expertise in delivering an early intervention approach. Regular clinical and management supervision and in-house training on CBT and Systemic approaches are provided.
