Highly Specialised Clinical Psychologist / Developmental
Location: Phoenix MCT, Countywide Service, Redruth.
Employment: Permanent, Full Time 37.5 hours. Band: 7 to 8a.
Salary: £47,810 - £62,682 per annum (pro rata).
Job Overview
This role involves working with children and young people with learning disabilities who experience poor mental health or emotional dysregulation. You will be based in the community, visiting families in a variety of settings to deliver multidisciplinary assessment and interventions, and will support the CAMHS Learning Disabilities service.
Main Responsibilities
* Lead community clinical support service for children, young people and families within Cornwall.
* Provide specialist assessment, formulation and intervention for moderate to severe learning disabilities and additional mental health needs.
* Consult with CAMHS teams and external partners on psychological care.
* Deliver specialist individual and family psychological assessments and intervention programmes.
* Provide regular supervision and consultation to non-psychologist colleagues.
* Contribute to research, audit projects, team learning events and clinical service development.
Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
* Post‑graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology.
* Current HCPC registration.
* Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the British Psychological Society.
Desirable Qualifications
* Managerial or supervisory experience.
Skills & Expertise
* Training preparation and delivery to diverse staff groups.
* Consultation skills with professional and non‑professional teams.
* Additional training in specialised areas such as Positive Behaviour Support or Learning Disability & Mental Health (desirable).
Knowledge & Abilities
* Experience working as a psychologist with children in clinical or community settings.
* Experience with young children with severe emotional or behavioural difficulties.
* Full clinical responsibility for client psychological care and treatment within a multi‑agency care plan.
* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, conveying complex clinical information sensitively.
* Knowledge of the Children and Social Work Act 2017 and Children Act 1989.
