The Role
The post exists to provide support for local Principal Investigators who are carrying out Clinical Trials within NHS Lanarkshire, facilitating recruitment into those Clinical Trials, and maintaining adherence to the Clinical Trials Protocols.
In carrying out this role, the post-holder will be required:
1. To carry out all relevant Clinical Trials duties as delegated to them by the local Principal Investigator, as defined in the Clinical Trials Protocol and recorded in the Study Delegation Log.
2. To maintain fully up-to-date and accurate Study Site Files for Clinical Trials, where that responsibility has been delegated to them by the Principal Investigator.
3. To contribute to targets set by national and regional Research Networks and other recognised research organisations for patient recruitment to Clinical Trials.
4. To work with a wide range of colleagues involved in research within NHS Lanarkshire to help develop and increase the Clinical Trials portfolio within the organisation.
5. To increase the awareness of Clinical Trials among patients, healthcare staff, clinical service providers and management.
6. To improve the accessibility of Clinical Trials to patients, despite any social circumstances or geographical barriers to participation. This will require interaction with patients, families, co-ordinating centres, Sponsor organisations, clinical and non-clinical staff, and working across interdisciplinary boundaries.
7. To contribute to the development and implementation of local and network research policies, standard operating procedures and working practices as required.
8. To develop and maintain a balanced trials portfolio ensuring that this focuses on a wide variety of conditions, and encompasses both assessment and treatment Clinical Trials.

What we'll need you to bring
9. First level RGN, or appropriate health related qualification.
10. Experience post RGN registration or post achievement of relevant appropriate health qualification, and relevant work experience applicable to the Clinical Trials they support.
11. Degree / Post registration Diploma (or working towards same) or ability to demonstrate equivalent experience to function at*degree level.
12. Evidence of continued professional development.
13. Developing and delivering training materials.
14. Full driving licence.
15. High standard of communication skills.
16. Ability to understand the application of Research Governance.
17. Ability to work as part of a team, utilising leadership skills where appropriate.
18. Excellent organisational skills.
19. Ability to prioritise and time manage.
20. Computer literate.

It would be great if you also have
21. Evidence of application of advanced practice skills in clinical research and applying clinical judgement providing support at all stages of the clinical research lifecycle
22. Experience of coordinating or managing a portfolio of studies
23. Experience of managing other clinical research staff
24. Experience working in primary care sites
25. Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within clinical research gained through experience working in clinical research in accordance with good clinical practice standards
26. Demonstrable knowledge of the EU Clinical Trials Directive and associated UK legislation governing the conduct of Clinical Trials of Investigational Medicinal Products (CTIMPs)
27. Ability to motivate others and work using own initiative
28. Ability to work within a multi disciplinary team

Fixed Term or Secondment for 12 Months

Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 Months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.
