Sanders Vets is a friendly and forward-thinking small animal practice located in Cwmbran, Wales. It is situated only a 10 minute walk from Cwmbran train station, close to major bus routes and within 20 minutes of Newport and 30 minutes of Cardiff.
The team includes 3 Vets, 6 Nurses, 1 Veterinary Care Assistant, 3 Receptionists, 1 Administrator, and a Practice Manager. Clinical leadership is provided by a Clinical Director and a vet with a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (Feline Medicine). Several nurses hold certificates in Nurse Consulting, Feline Nursing, Dog Training, and are working towards an Anaesthesia certificate.
The practice offers four consulting rooms, a dedicated discharge and euthanasia room, a double operating theatre, a large prep room, separate kennels and cattery, a dental suite with imaging, and an in‑house Idexx lab.
Role Overview
We are currently looking for a full‑time Graduate Veterinary Surgeon to join our team. The role involves working 40 hours per week over four days, with two days dedicated to operations and two days to consultations. Shifts run between 9am and 6:45pm, with a 1 in 3 Saturday morning clinic from 9am to 12pm. There are no out‑of‑hours or bank holiday duties.
You will benefit from a dedicated vet mentor providing one‑to‑one support and weekly meetings initially. You will have the opportunity to shadow senior vets, spend time with reception and nurse teams, and gradually take on more advanced caseloads and surgical responsibilities as your skills develop.
