We run three brands, all with active YouTube channels. Thumbnails are one of the biggest levers for YouTube performance — they directly impact click-through rate, which drives everything else. We need dedicated thumbnail designers because this is a very specific skill that our general content editors shouldn't be splitting time on.
The Role
You'll design high-CTR YouTube thumbnails for both long-form videos and Shorts across our channels. You'll work closely with our Google/YouTube channel manager and video editors to ensure the thumbnail and title work together as a package. This is a part-time and flexible role — volume depends on the upload schedule, but expect 8–15 thumbnails per week across all channels.
What You'll Do
* Design YouTube thumbnails that drive clicks without being misleading
* Collaborate with the channel manager on title + thumbnail alignment
* Create multiple thumbnail options for A/B testing when needed
* Maintain a consistent visual style per brand while testing new approaches
* Optimize based on CTR data — learn from what works and iterate
* Deliver thumbnails on a reliable schedule so they're ready before upload
What We're Looking For
* Strong portfolio of YouTube thumbnails — show us thumbnails you've designed and (ideally) their CTR results
* Understands the psychology of thumbnails: faces, contrast, emotion, curiosity gaps, text placement
* Proficient in Photoshop (preferred) or similar tools
* Fast turnaround — we sometimes need thumbnails within hours, not days
* Can take feedback and iterate quickly
* Understands that the thumbnail is half the video — if nobody clicks, nobody watches
Nice to Have
* Experience designing thumbnails for channels with 50K+ subscribers
* Familiarity with YouTube analytics and how CTR impacts the recommendation algorithm
* Experience in gaming, food/lifestyle, or creator content niches
This is a part-time and flexible. We're looking for two designers so we have reliable coverage across all channels without bottlenecks.
Contract duration of more than 6 months. with 40 hours per week.
