About The Role
Our Assistant Residential Children’s Workers provide responsive care and support, particularly during the night, to children with complex emotional and social needs. They use a considered and therapeutically informed approach to ensure children and young people are safe, well, and cared for. They are responsible for the holistic care and safety of the children, assuming a parental role while working in close partnership with internal and external partners, and their families.
As an ARCW, you should have an openness to and an aptitude for relationship-focused and psychologically informed working practices. You must have the appropriate skills and experience to work in an environment that may require using your own initiative, along with an understanding of the Children Act, the quality care standards, and Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
You should hold, be working towards, or be willing to undertake and complete within 2 years of starting at the home, the Level 3 Children and Young People’s Workforce Diploma and Social Care Pathway (England) 2015. Alternatively, you may hold an equivalent qualification such as NVQ 3 in caring for children & young people, and be prepared to complete any additional work needed to meet the required level. This role attracts additional payments. It is primarily an overnight position, requiring weekend and bank holiday work, as well as attendance at team meetings and reflective practice sessions. Assistant Residential Children’s Workers will have the support of a Residential Children’s Worker who sleeps in and wakes if needed.
Salary details
Grade 6: £13.05 - £13.29 (Monday to Sunday, 7am-7pm). After 7pm until 7am: £17.37 - £17.61. Bank Holidays: £26.10 - £26.58.
