The Opportuni tyWe are now recruiting for a Structural Engineer to join our Fairport Sunderland Sit e. The purpose of the Structural Engineer role is to ensure that Civil/Structural designs meet the highest standards with regards to safety, code compliance, scope alignment, quality, cost, and on-time delive ry. In this role you will guide and validate Civil / Structural designs to support project delivery, promoting structural efficiency and cost optimization, without compromising safety, by effectively communicating design requirements with the design team and project engineer, in accordance with project program deadli nes. Responsibilities include but are not limit e d to;Review project specifications and confirm scope of supply (including anticipated cost/ programme and the impact into the project team.Prepare Civil/ Structural Basis of Design summary prior to commencing engineering w orks.Produce analysis models to validate civil/ structural configurations, and to generate foundation l oads.Ensure analytical models are transferring loads as expected, and that axial forces and moments are fixed/ released as stability (& connection design) de mand.Produce hand calculations to validate connection de sign.Effectively communicate design requirements to the design team.Check Civil/ Structural drawing output (as required) to ensure that the information within reflects analytical models and calculat ions.Prepare Civil/ Structural calculation reports for inclusion into the project technical file.Support CAT 2/ CAT 3 checking requirements with any supplementary information as requ ired.Attend sites as required, to conduct site and/ or condition surveys, and prepare reports on findings therea fter.Attend project design/ model reviews as required, supporting interfacing and tolerancing where applic able.Attend client meetings as requested by the Project Engi neer.Update Project Engineer and Head of Civil/ Structural on progress against task on a weekly basis, Highlighting any blockers or foreseen issues as/ when they become evi dent.Responsible for identifying any (internal/ external) changes to civil/ structural scope and escalating to the Project Engineer to capture via the DCN pro cess.Deliver works in alignment with the business’ ISO 9001 processes and templates as controlled within the Quality Management System ( COS).Engage with the quarterly 1-2-1 process and take actions to address areas for improve ment.Ensure personal objectives are completed in a timely manner and drive overall departmental/ business objectives year-on- year.Maintain alignment with company values and vision. Any other ad hoc duties as may be required, and as commensurate with the grade of post.Identification, and escalation, of all civil/ structural Technical Queries (TQ) that occur on the pro ject. Minimum Require ments:Minimum BEng (Hons) in Engineering (preferably Civil or Structural Enginee ring).Experience in a Civil/ Structural engineering field.Knowledge of the construction & process industries and applicable stan dards.Ability to use structural analytical software unaided - STAAD Pro or TEKLA Struc tures.Understanding of load cases and combinations, and able to deduce structures are behaving as intended through calculation or ana lysis.Experience of good time management in a project delivery enviro nment.Strong attention to detail and committed to quality performance/ o utput.Strong communicator with internal and external customers alike, with good presentation s kills.
