NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non‑clinical professions. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million, and we serve a wider population of 2.2 million through our regional and national services. The Diagnostics Directorate is looking for a full‑time Clerical Officer based primarily at Stobhill ACH Imaging Department, with required coverage at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Stobhill ACH and Glasgow Dental Hospital. Travel across the North Sector and other GGC imaging departments may be required according to service needs.

The shift pattern will vary and comprise various shifts between 8 am and 8 pm, Monday to Sunday, as local requirements dictate. This rotational role will run the service across the North East Sector and involves processing and arranging imaging appointments for outpatients, managing patients referred to Golden Jubilee, and assisting with outsourcing of reports to external agencies. You will work closely with radiologists, radiographers and dental hospital colleagues to prioritise patients based on urgency, maximise capacity, communicate with patients regarding prep information, and arrange portering for infirm patients. As the key contact for GRI wards you will help arrange discharge and return patients to allow beds to be released.


Essential Knowledge & Skills

* Proficient in the use of software systems, including Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams).
* Previous clerical experience.
* Good organisational and communication skills, including the ability to prioritise and work under pressure to tight timescales.
* Flexible approach and an understanding of the principles of good teamwork.
* Ability to work proactively on own initiative, flexibly and independently.
* Clear communication with patients and staff at all levels.
